WHY WE WEAR A UNIFORM
Dancers wear uniforms so that the faculty can clearly see the body which helps them adjust alignment issues and watch for muscular imbalances. Uniforms also help with choreography so the faculty can see flaws in the line and shape of movements, helping make recital and competition pieces more polished.
Dancers all over the world wear uniforms to class for these reasons.
Uniform rules will be enforced by the entire faculty in all genres. If you need an exception to anything below please write to us at elitedance@shaw.ca and we will take your request into consideration.
HAIR REQUIREMENTS FOR PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM
Hair should be pulled back and away from the face in either a bun or ponytail. Please make sure your dancer does not wear jewelry to the studio. We will always try our best to help new parents find second-hand shoes for this age group as they grow out of slippers so quickly.
HAIR AND UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS FOR BALLET PROGRAM
All dancers attending ballet classes either recreational or competitive must have their hair in a bun with any loose hair or bangs drawn back with clips or gel. Please use at least 8-10 bobby pins to hold the hair in place along with a hair net. Dancers that come to class without their hair done properly will be asked to exit the class and do their hair before participating.
Faculty will help the younger dancers do proper hair if needed. Please do not wear jewelry to the studio.
Small earrings are permitted. Dancers that are wearing jewelry to class will be asked to remove it and place it in their dance bag for safekeeping. No False nails, bright nail polish or overly embellished makeup should be worn to class, exams or on stage. Dancers need to come to the studio ready to dance.
Dancers may not miss the beginning of any class to do their hair or change their clothing.
